Friends to Lovers, Written Turn by Turn
Friends to lovers is the quietest of these tropes and often the most affecting. Nothing external keeps these two apart. The obstacle is entirely internal: they have something good, and wanting more risks it. Every scene is shaped by that calculation.
The writer builds the years of familiarity into the details, because that is what makes the first crossing land. The way they already touch each other casually, the things they know without asking, the joke that stops being funny halfway through. Then it writes the moment one of them decides the risk is worth it.
You steer whether the friendship survives, and whether either of them says anything at all afterwards.
Start with one of these
Each one opens the writer with the scene already typed in. Change any detail before you generate.
Too late, too drunk, too honest
Two long-time friends stay up too late talking and one of them finally says the thing they have been avoiding for years. Write it explicitly, with the friendship audible in every line.
Write this storyThe favour
One adult friend asks another for a very specific favour. Write the conversation and what follows, explicit, both of them pretending it is casual.
Write this storySharing a bed again
Two friends who have shared a bed platonically many times share one again, and this time neither of them sleeps. Write it slowly and explicitly.
Write this storyAfter it happened
Write the morning after two lifelong friends slept together, explicit in the flashbacks, awkward and tender in the present.

Questions
- Can it stay hopeful?
- Yes. Ask for a warm ending and the writer will keep the friendship intact on the other side.
- Can I write in first person?
- Yes. Say whose point of view you want and it stays there for the whole story.
